My QLPrism window cannot be restored and starts hidden - This may happen on some systems if you use a game resolution (r_mode) that is smaller than your desktop resolution. This will be addressed in the next release. Until then, please see the window fix here.
QLPrism crashes after every second game! Help! - If you have an Nvidia graphics card, and you are able to load the game once, but after you quit, QLPrism crashes if you try to load the game again, try this: Go to : Nvidia control pannel -> Manage 3d settings -> Program Settings -> And add an exception for quakelive.exe (the quakelive.exe found in your QLPrism\xul directory! NOT the one in your QLPrism\ directory!) and SET: "Threaded Optimization" to OFF. This should solve the problem and does not negatively affect QuakeLive's 3d performance.
My QLPrism is missing features! (Windows 7/8/Vista users with UAC enabled) - You most likely run Windows 7/8/Vista with User Access Control enabled. Click here for a screenshot of what UAC looks like. DO NOT install QLPrism to "Progam Files" or "Program Files (x86)" There is an unavoidable UAC conflict and thus most of the features will not work. To fix: install QLPrism to C:\ or another location!
I am receiving the "QLPrism is already running" error. - Windows users: First and most important if QLPrism installed to Program Files or Program Files (x86) then uninstall it and install it to a different location You may also check your task manager and see if quakelive.exe is running. If so, kill the process. Go to your QLPrism folder, navigate to "ql\data" and delete the file called "parent.lock". Or run the "Steam/XFire utility" from your desktop or start menu and select "Yes" to "Fix QLPrism is already running error," then hit the "Go!" button. If this does not work, then reboot and try again, however there might be a OS permissions issues which will require you to reinstall QLPrism to location different from Program Files or Program Files(x86). Please make sure that you run QLPrism-setup.exe as Administrator. Linux users: navigate to the qlprism directory, then ql\data, then "rm .parentlock"
What is the point of QLPrism? - To provide both beginners and pros alike with a high performance, vastly superior Quake Live experience.
How do I install and run QLPrism? - Download and run the setup program on the download page. After the installation has finished, simply double click the "QLPrism" icon on your desktop or in your Start Menu. That's it!
Does QLPrism change my config and settings? - No! QLPrism uses your existing Quake Live configuration and settings that you used with Firefox, Internet Explorer, and/or Chrome. If you don't have Quake Live installed, we can install it for you automatically!
How do I set up the integrated IRC client? - The client is already set up and ready to go! However, if you'd like to configure some advanced features such as Q/AuthServ auto-auth or IRC bouncers, see the guide located here.
Do I need to have my browser running to use QLPrism? - No! That's one of the main purposes of the software. There is no need to launch Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chrome to play.
How do I auto-login to QuakeLive? - When you log in to QuakeLive, check the "Remember Me" box under the blue login button. When you are finished playing, do not "log out" of Quake Live, just close QLPrism instead. The next time you open QLPrism it will automatically login to QuakeLive. If want to switch between multiple accounts, click the lightning icon in the upper-right corner of QLPrism for more information.
How do I enter game URLs in QLPrism? - Click the link icon in the upper-right corner of QLPrism or hit "CTRL + L".
How do I add QLPrism to Steam (to use Steam overlay, etc.)? - Steam integration is easily handled by the installer. However, you may also enable Steam support using the Steam/XFire utility from the "Launch" menu in QLPrism or from the shortcut on your desktop or start menu.
I installed QLPrism before installing Xfire. How can I enable Xfire support without re-installing QLPrism? - Open the "Steam/XFire Utility" from the "Launch" menu within QLPrism or from the shortcut on your desktop or start menu.
How do I properly update QLPrism with a new release? - Windows users: QLPrism automatically checks for updates when it is launched. You will be notified if a new update is available. Simply download the update, run the installer to uninstall the previous version and install the new version. Linux users: simply grab the new archive and execute the shell script. id Software has updated the Quake Live plugin! How do I install the new QL plugin? - (1) OPEN QLPrism - (2) Download the QuakeLive Plugin (QuakeLiveNP_###.msi) it will save to your DESKTOP. - (3) CLOSE QLPrism - (4) Run the QuakeLiveNP_###.msi file from your desktop to update your Quake Live - (5) Re-OPEN QLPrism to complete the Quake Live update.
